4. Neighbor of the Month, Ron Goetz - Councilmember Raghavachary
Honored for his work on the Foothill
Design Committee. Ron and his wife, Geraldine, will soon be retiring to another
state.
5. Report of LA Planning Commission Meeting re: La Crescenta
Motel Property (formerly the MayLane) - Councilmember
Ostler
Reported he testified with Councilmember
Toyon and did not speak for or against the property plans but encouraged the
developer to continue working with the Foothill Design Committee.
Commission approved what the staff recommendation.
Some items from Council’s letter were put into the recommendation.
Councilmember Raghavachary: Beginning
of June the report will be finalized. Meetings
were recommended but not required. Property was in escrow with Dr. Ha and he backed out.
Current owner Kobeissi will develop property.
6. Comments
from Officials
Pasadena –
firearms issue in Pasadena; witness had actual description of individual,
vehicle, license plate, and called the HighwayPatrol, who apprehended the
suspect. There were 10 collisions in April, 4 injury,
6 non-injury. Extra seatbelt enforcement. 90%+
compliance rate in California, we want 95% by July. Seatbelt
citation minimum $85.
Introducing Lt.
Bob Lopez, watch commander. Part I crime stats, 1/1/04-4/30/04 compared to
1/1/05-4/30/05 one increase, property crimes. Parking Lot – 3 phases of
repair, cleared driveway, cut wall and reconstruct half, then reconstruct the
other half.
Cost is between
$60-$65 per acre foot to pump water from our wells and between $350-$700 to
purchase water from Metropolitan Water District. $200,000 to replace pipe at the
Sheriff Station, FEMA to help. 5 or councilmembers
will attend the CVWD Tour.
Friends of the
Library have donated $6000 for the summer program.
Mixer at the
MIX on June 1st. Memorial
Day program at the Vietnam War Memorial on the corner of Oceanview and Honolulu.
Octoberfest information will come soon.
June 20th
meeting will feature John Drayman. July meeting is titled "Get your kicks
on Route 66". August will have a discussion on airports by Charles Bausback.
September will feature UFO’s.
7. Presentation of Plans for 2626-2636 Foothill Blvd. -
Councilmember Raghavachary
Present were Adham Refaat, Architect,
Nadel Architects Inc, Los Angeles and Saied Carmel
Isaacson, owner of property, Platnum Properties, Los Angeles.
Sidewalk will remain as it is, the
public right of way. Property is located between ReMax and Dental Building on
Foothill Blvd.
How close will be building be to the
ficus tree on the Remax property? Asked
Councilmember Erickson
15 foot in the rear, lost to 15 set back
in the front to give the tree 15 feet.
Find solutions to keep the tree.

1890, resort hotel, Silvertree Inn, named after the tree that was on the
property, across from ReMax

Janice Gilden- approve the design,
guarantee the safety of the tree, trees on Foothill Blvd remain
Gary Knowlton- concerned about the root damage to Moreton Bay Fig tree.
Councilmember Raghavachary made a motion
to send a letter to Regional Planning, stipulating the items of concern from the
Foothill Design Committee. Councilmember Rawlins seconded. Passed unanimous

Has received
donations for 4th of July silent auction
Waiting for
meeting with Regional Planning regarding CSD. Spot Park plans are in the works.
Library
Committee had a good meeting with Librarian Margaret Todd and staff.
Things going well in procuring the land. Funds
are possibility depending on passing of the budget. Tour of existing libraries
in August.
Outreach
Committee has launched a membership drive.
Linda Evans and
Mrs. Kim thank you for the scholarships. Thursday, June 2nd, awards meeting.
Prospect by La
Crescenta Elementary – waiting on the speed counts. Painted
Whittier and Circle Vista. Freeman issue for parking. Monte Vista school hedge
issue. Cross walk at Briggs and Mountain Avenue. Rosemont and Foothill
intersection
Response from
Regional Planning: Montrose is built out, but 14,000 more students capacity. 65%
school age. County will not down zone.
